Kittredge Konnection - April 15, 2025

This Week's News

Habit of Mind: Persisting

“Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other thing.” - Abraham Lincoln

April's Habit of Mind is Persisting. This month, we hope students will put extra care into trying their best, embracing challenge, and cultivating a growth mindset.

At this month's assembly, students practiced these skills by attempting to solve a series of brain teasers and riddles.

Culture Day

Thank you to our Kittredge students and parents who made delicious treats and dishes for Culture Day on our last day before Spring Break. It was a veritable feast, and students and teachers alike had a wonderful time learning about other cultures and trying new foods.

Stuffed Animal Day

This Monday we welcomed students back to school with some fuzzy friends in tow! Stuffed Animal Day proved to be every bit as cute and cuddly as we anticipated. There were bears, bison, frogs, caterpillars, bunnies and more! Thank you, students, for sharing your stuffed friends with us yesterday!

Trash Talk

Yesterday's assembly included a talk with Vince from Refuse Refuse, a local organization that's making San Francisco a cleaner, more beautiful city one street at a time. Vince shared the purpose and important of his organization's work with our students, talked about other cultures' habits of cleaning shared spaces, and the negative effects of littering. Earth Day is coming, check out the Refuse Refuse site to join a clean up!

Bridge Breaking

Every year, Kevin's 6th grade class completes a project where students break into groups and build their best weight-bearing bridge out of sticks and glue. This project gives them the opportunity to practice their skills as engineers, architects, and mathematicians.

The project culminates in a bridge-breaking ceremony, where students will compete to see which bridge can bear the most weight before collapsing. The ceremony is a lot of fun, and the families of sixth graders are encouraged to attend to see it for themselves!

The bridge-breaking ceremony will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, April 15 at 2:30pm. We hope to see you there!

Ice Cream Fundraiser

Kittredge student council will host an ice cream fundraiser for Andrea's Dream Rescue tomorrow, Wednesday, April 16. Each child is entitled to ice cream (or a non-dairy treat) on this day and we encourage students to bring in a few dollars to support this feline cause. $120 is enough to sponsor medical evaluation and supplies for one cat. Let's see how many furry friends our community can help!

Rescheduled Futsal Game this Thursday!

Our futsal team is playing April 17 at KIPP Bayview, against KIPP Bayview. The game will start at 4:00 pm.

Hot Lunch

This week's Hot Lunch will be chicken tenders! You can sign up for hot lunch here. Please sign up no later than Wednesday evening.
