NEXT WEEK’S NEWS

Monday: Welcome our Principals for a Day – Taylor and Octavian

On Monday, please make sure to say good morning to Ms. and Mr. Swanson as they help your children out of your cars at drop off.

Taylor and Octavian will also be on hand all day to do the important work that Mr. L usually does… they will drink hot chocolate, eat a burrito, relax with their feet up and leave the message on our phone. They will end the day helping to put your children safely back in your cars at dismissal.

Next Week is Screen-Free Week

We hope that many of our students and families will join the fun and turn off their screens for 7 consecutive days. You can begin on Saturday, Sunday or Monday and continue for 7 days in a row… as long as the 7th day is completed by Monday, April 29.

For entertainment, participants are able to read, daydream, explore, enjoy nature, and spend time with family and friends. This annual celebration gives children, families, schools and communities a chance to turn off screens and turn on life.

Screens can still be used for homework and business but not for entertainment. The idea of this week is to find and enjoy other means of amusement and socializing for seven days.

MAY NEWS

Culture Day – May 8

Culture Day is a school wide celebration of the diversity of our school, city, state, and world.

Every classroom teacher will celebrate it differently, however, the one uniting feature will be sharing of food. Children will be asked to bring food to share from their culture or a culture they admire. This creates a wonderful potluck lunch for students and teachers alike and a great way to learn about different cultures.

May 16 at 6pm – High School Information Night for 7th Grade Parents

All 7th grade parents are invited and strongly encouraged to attend this informational meeting about the high school application process. Now is a great time to begin talking as a family about goals and plans for high school. Don’t let the admissions process become overwhelming. Come and get some basic information to help you start planning for this next step in your child’s education.

This meeting is for parents only; students will get a lot of support for this process next year. We are confident that this 90-minutes will be time well spent.
