Habit of Mind: Finding Humor
“If you can laugh at it, you can live with it.” - Erma Bombeck
Humor is what gets us through difficult times, and what allows us to find a new perspective. Being able to laugh at oneself promotes perseverence and a healthy self-esteem, while jokes and riddles encourage high-level thinking skills.
This month, we encourage students to find levity and humor in daily life, learn to laugh at themselves, and utilize creativity and spontaneity. At the same time, we hope students recall the previous habit of managing impulsivity, and remember to save humor for appropriate moments and to wield it with kindness.
