This Friday, it’s Time to Get Comfy

Our coziest Spirit Day is just around the corner!

Pajama Day is this Friday, December 16. Bring on the sweatpants, onesies, and fuzzy robes. Your cutest bunny slippers are welcome, but please bring a pair of appropriate shoes for P.E.

We can hardly believe it, but Winter Break begins this Friday!

This Friday, December 16 will be a minimum day with a noon dismissal. Extendo is available for drop-in from 12pm-6pm for a $40 fee. If your child does not normally attend Extended Day, please make sure they know that they will not be picked up at their regular time. You can sign up for Extended Day using this Google form.

Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 3. Families must submit a negative covid test to this Google form by 6pm on Monday, January 2.

Holiday Happening Thursday, December 15 6:30pm – 8:00pm

Our beloved Holiday Happening is almost here! There will be fun games, crafts, a photo booth, and plenty of holiday cheer! Be sure to stay for the traditional Kittredge holiday sing-along at 8pm! This year it will be held both indoors at school as well as outdoors in the courtyard.

Volunteers are STILL needed! THIS IS A VOLUNTEER-RUN EVENT & we can’t host the Happening without your help! We could use help with supervising the crafts and games, setting up, or cleaning up at the end of the evening. No tasks during the event itself take more than 30 minutes of your time, so you can help out and still enjoy the party! Please sign up at the link below to volunteer: THANK YOU!!!

Questions? Please contact Riva Gokhale @rivar924@gmail.com

There is no study hall on Thursday, December 15, and Extended Day closes at 5pm, as we will be setting up for the Holiday Happening. We recommend that children be picked up early enough to get ready at home for the Holiday Happening, which begins at 6:30pm.

Friday Chess Club Starting Jan 6th, 2023 — Register by this Friday, December 16!

Starting Friday, Jan 6th, Chess Club will be held each Friday from 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM in the 7th grade classroom. Students can go directly from their classroom to Chess Club.

Chess Club will be open to students in grades 1-8, regardless of previous experience with chess. Beginners will learn the basics of gameplay, starting with instructive mini-games and building up to playing full games. Intermediate and advanced students will learn how to play thoughtfully, calculate tactics, and most of all, they’ll play plenty of games!

Each lesson will be split between a short 15-30 minutes of interactive instruction and 30-45 minutes of gameplay. While there is plenty to learn, our primary focus will be on creating a fun, welcoming, and supportive environment to enjoy chess and build community.

Chess Club will be conducted in six-week sessions. Session 1 will focus on teaching the basics of gameplay and improving understanding of the three phases of the game: the opening, the middlegame, and the endgame. All materials will be provided. The final week will be a Pizza & Chess Party.

Each six-week session will cost $150 per student. Please bring a check made out to Jeremy Mann on January 6. Fill out this form to register your student. The deadline for registration is this Friday, December 16.

Email jeremyalexmann@gmail.com for any clarifying questions.
