Another Season Begins
Way to go, Coyotes! We’re so proud of our varsity boys for completing their first game of the season. We love seeing Kittredge kids come together as a team. Keep up the good work!
The next basketball game is next Wednesday, December 14, against KIPP Bayview. It will be at Shipwreck, and starts at 5:15.
Kittredge Has Gone to the Dogs…..
…..and cats, and bears, and bats! That’s right – tomorrow’s Spirit Day is Animal Day!
From adorable puppies to fantastical dragons, animals are sure to be found at school tomorrow, Wednesday, December 7. Come in your flyest costume – we promise you won’t be owl by yourself!
Tomorrow is Election Day
We hope our students have their speeches ready, because tomorrow is the big day! Student council elections are tomorrow, Wednesday, December 7.
Student candidates will give their speeches at the afternoon assembly, and then the student body will cast their votes for the second and final time this school year.
Conferences – This Thursday and Friday
By now, you should have scheduled a conference with your child’s teacher for Thursday, December 8 or Friday, December 9.
Both Thursday and Friday will be noon dismissal days, and conferences will run from 12:30pm to 5pm. Students should still bring a snack to school for morning recess. There will be no homework and no study hall on Thursday or Friday.
Parents may drop off their child to Extendo for 30 minutes during their conference at no cost. Extendo is also available for drop-in from 12pm-6pm for a $40 fee. If your child does not normally attend Extended Day, please make sure they know that they will not be picked up at their regular time.

Looking Ahead
Friday Chess Club Starting Jan 6th, 2023 — Register Now!
Hello Kittredge community! My name is Jeremy, and I’m a passionate chess player and coach who is excited to share a love of this beautiful game with Kittredge’s students.
Starting Friday, Jan 6th, Chess Club will be held each Friday from 3:15 PM to 4:15 PM in the 7th grade classroom. Students can go directly from their classroom to Chess Club.
Chess Club will be open to students in grades 1-8, regardless of previous experience with chess. Beginners will learn the basics of gameplay, starting with instructive mini-games and building up to playing full games. Intermediate and advanced students will learn how to play thoughtfully, calculate tactics, and most of all, they’ll play plenty of games!
Each lesson will be split between a short 15-30 minutes of interactive instruction and 30-45 minutes of gameplay. While there is plenty to learn, our primary focus will be on creating a fun, welcoming, and supportive environment to enjoy chess and build community.
Chess Club will be conducted in six-week sessions. Session 1 will focus on teaching the basics of gameplay and improving understanding of the three phases of the game: the opening, the middlegame, and the endgame. All materials will be provided. The final week will be a Pizza & Chess Party.
Each six-week session will cost $150 per student. Please bring a check made out to Jeremy Mann on January 6. Fill out this form to register your student.

Holiday Happening – Thursday, December 15 from 6:30pm – 8:00pm
All families are invited to attend Kittredge School’s annual Holiday Happening! Holiday Happening is a beloved Kittredge tradition put on by the KPA in collaboration with the school to celebrate the holidays together before everyone heads off for Winter Break. There will be fun games, crafts, a photo booth, and plenty of holiday cheer! Be sure to stay for the traditional Kittredge holiday sing-along at 8pm! This year it will be held both indoors at school as well as outdoors in the courtyard.
Volunteers needed! THIS IS A VOLUNTEER-RUN EVENT & we can’t host the Happening without your help! We could use help with supervising the crafts and games, setting up, or cleaning up at the end of the evening. No tasks during the event itself take more than 30 minutes of your time, so you can help out and still enjoy the party! Please sign up at the link below to volunteer: THANK YOU!!!

While RSVPs are not required, it would help immensely with our planning.
We’re also in need of the following items if anyone can lend or donate them for the event:
1) large hot water dispensers
2) general holiday decor – garlands, tinsel, ribbons, etc.
3) large square lights
Questions? Please contact Riva Gokhale @rivar924@gmail.com
There is no study hall on Thursday, December 15, and Extended Day closes at 5pm, as we will be setting up for the Holiday Happening. We recommend that children be picked up early enough to get ready at home for the Holiday Happening, which begins at 6:30pm.
