February Habit of Mind: Metacognition (Thinking about Thinking)
“Children must be taught HOW to think, not WHAT to think.” Margaret Mead
Metacognition is a big word for something most of us do every day without even noticing. It is our ability to know what we know and what we don’t know, to be conscious of our own steps and strategies while problem solving, and to self-reflect and evaluate our own thinking.

MORE FEBRUARY NEWS
February 22 to 26 – Remote Learning and Covid Testing
We are asking that everyone is home and ready for a week of remote learning from February 22 to 26.
During that week, all families who are scheduled to finish the 2nd trimester in person should be tested and should send results to Trudy. Students in grades 3rd through 8th and all adults in their households should be tested. All adults in the households of our K to 2nd graders should be tested. Please schedule a test for about 4 or 5 days before you plan to return to the classroom so that we have your results on file.
We have found that Curative usually has available spots at local testing sites. You can schedule an appointment online here if it helps: https://curative.com/search#9/37.847/-122.205

Visitors are Visiting Virtually
Applicants for next year in grades 1through 8 are spending a virtual day in a classroom. Most students have been scheduled to meet during our remote teaching week in February.

Online Enrollment for Next Year Has Been Extended
All current families will receive a re-enrollment email from TADS later this week. If you would like to hold a space for your child next year, please make sure to complete the process by March 1st.
Thanks for your help with this process.
