CHARACTER COUNTS NEWS

“Fairness” is Our Character Pillar this Trimester

As one of the six pillars of Character Counts, fairness is described as: Playing by the rules • Taking turns and sharing • Being open-minded; listening to others • Not taking advantage of others • Not blaming others carelessly • Treating all people fairly.

At our assembly last week, the student council performed a skit to help students see that being fair is giving each person what they need. And, because everyone doesn’t need the same thing, you need to listen to each other and be open minded in order to know what is fair.

We have created a “Fairness” Wall near the office and students are currently sharing what fairness means to them in their life. When they add a post-it note to the wall, they receive a chain with a “Fairness” dog tag on it. We hope to see everyone at Kittredge wearing this proudly.

Summer School 2019 is being Scheduled

We believe that summer is a great opportunity to engage children in activities that enrich their academic foundation and keep them involved and interested in learning. Therefore, we will offer one five-week academic session this summer. The dates are June 17 to July 19.

Brochures and registration will be available in February. We hope you will be able to use this program, as it is a worthwhile experience for any child. Also, we appreciate you letting your friends know of this program since it is open to students in any school.
