Kittredge Konnection – January 3, 2023

This Week’s News

Welcome Back!

Welcome back, Kittredge! We’re so happy to kick off the New Year with you all. Our resolution is to have our best year yet, and we couldn’t do it without you!

A big thank you to our community for being so on top of your covid tests – you’re what keeps us great and keeps us safe!

We’re Open!

It looks like we are in for some windy/rainy weather the next couple of days. Please allow extra time for driving in rainy conditions. We appreciate your patience with drop off and pickup, this may take longer than usual. Please drive safely, remembering to let your child out of the car in our white zone and not the surrounding area. If you find a place to park safely, please do so. If weather conditions present difficulty for traveling to school, please be safe. Your child will not be marked tardy or unexcused for weather related absence. Thank you for your cooperation.

Thank You, KPA!!!!

I don’t know about you, but we’re still feeling warm and fuzzy from the Holiday Happening! It was so special to have all of our community together for games, laughter, and songs. We want to thank Lisa Wong, Riva Gokhale, Jessica May-Shah, Cindy and Olaf Tam, and all our parent volunteers and 8th graders! The KPA event planners, parents, staff, and student volunteers made this a very special event. Thank you.

Kittredge Cares

Thank you for all of the donations to our SF Casa Popcorn sale. Your generosity helps many San Francisco kids in need. Donations are accepted through Friday January 6th. Thank you for your kindness and for showing our kids it is important to help take care of others.

Habit of Mind: Gathering Data and Using All Senses

“It is a capital mistake to theorize before one has data.” — Sherlock Holmes

This month’s Habit of Mind is Gathering Data through All Senses. Try this out at the dinner table. What do you see, smell, hear, touch, taste?

We gather data by collecting information and observations. This data is what we use to come to conclusions about the world around us. When we explore and expand upon the information we collect, asking questions and seeking out answers, we become scientists!

Speaking of Scientists…

Science Club with Ms. Rose starts tomorrow! This session’s focus is engineering.

Science Club with Ms. Rose is an exciting after-school STEAM enrichment program (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math). It is an opportunity to learn about science, have fun with friends, and make projects to bring home, or give as gifts to friends and family. Science Club sessions consist of thematic units held after school from 3:15 pm to 4:30 pm. Students will join Extended Day on the playground from dismissal until 3:15pm. Snack is provided.

It’s Game Time!

Basketball is back! You can catch our girls playing the first game of 2023 at Burkes this Thursday, January 5 at 4:45.
