Kittredge Konnection – March 6, 2018

*******************************************************

Project Cicero Bay Area is At Kittredge This Week!

The Kittredge community is partnering with Project Cicero Bay Area. We are taking part in a children’s book drive designed to create and supplement classroom libraries in schools that desperately need books. Many other San Francisco schools are participating, and together, we hope to collect and distribute thousands of books to over 300 teachers, reaching 10,000 students in need this year.

Books in need are: Beginning Readers, Picture Books, Board Books, Early and Middle Grade Chapter Books, Young Adult Fiction, Graphic Novels, Classic Literature, Geography/History, Multicultural Literature, Biographies, Poetry, Plays/Drama, Up-to-date Reference. Please no Adult Books or textbooks.

Habit of the Mind for March: Thinking Interdependently

Thinking interdependently means to be able to share ideas, listen to each other, build ideas collaboratively and draw on each other’s individual strengths. Interdependent thinkers know that we all benefit from sharing ideas, inventions, and problem solving.

We will see the results of Kittredge students working interpedently at our Talent Show later this month. Their classroom performances are the outcome of each grade listening to each other and collaborating with their Performing Arts teacher.

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.” ~Margaret Mead

SIP, SIP HOORAY!

Important KPA Information from Jennifer Buzick and Linda Hughes

We can’t wait to see you this Saturday, March 10th from 6 to Wine:30 for the KPA Spring Social, generously hosted by Devon & Nick McConnell. For those able to join us and make some “pour” decisions, please do not forget to bring your wine, your vino, your grown-up juice, your spare libations!

There will be a small token of our appreciation in it for you. And if that’s not incentive enough, remember your generosity directly benefits your child! Any questions, donations in absentia, love notes or life tips can be sent to Jennifer (Holden’s mom) at: jbuzick@gmail.com

Also, please remember to come “double fisted”… along with wine for the auction, please bring a potluck dish to share. It’s always nice to be able to mix some food with our drinks!

And finally, please note that the McConnell’s live on Portola Street (not Portola Drive or in Portola). They are in the Presidio… the last house on the left. Their exact address is on the evite.

See you on Saturday between 6 and 9:30. Cheers!

The Kittredge School Talent Show is Thursday, March 22 at 6:30

***Important: Extendo will close at 5:00***

Please join us at Kanbar Hall in the JCCSF for a great time! The doors to Kanbar Hall will be open at 6:00. Please make sure that you are there by 6:15 so you don’t miss a minute of this wonderful evening.

Classes are working on their group performances with David. Each child’s role in the class production is important so please let us know if your child will not be attending the talent show.

We hope all students and families will attend. Have your child show you what they are doing!

Important information from David Silverman: All music must be edited to no longer than 3 minutes and turned in by Friday for your child to be able to perform this year. Some music received has been too long and some music that has been promised has not yet been received. Thanks for your help with this Friday deadline.
