Habit of Mind: Taking Responsible Risks
This month’s Habit of Mind is Taking Responsible Risks. Risk-taking requires trust in your own capability, a growth mindset, and a willingness to make mistakes… all of that is pretty brave! Our kids had an opportunity to practice this kind of bravery during last week’s assembly by choosing from a few new skills and trying them out! Some learned a few new words in Mandarin or how to correctly throw a baseball, while others learned hand signals for musical notation, or a new drawing technique.
2/3/4 Celebration of Learning
Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 8, the 2/3/4 class will hold their second trimester celebration of learning. Classroom parents are invited to the courtyard at 2pm to meet the biography buddies the students have worked on, and hear their presentations.
Last Call for the Project Cicero Book Drive!
Tomorrow, Wednesday, March 8, is the last day to donate books to Kittredge’s Project Cicero Book Drive! Project Cicero is a volunteer-run annual children’s book drive designed to create and supplement classroom libraries in under-resourced Bay Area public schools. Books for donation should be in new, or almost new condition. Thank you to all for your kind donations!
Class Picture Day is This Friday
MugsyClicks is back again this Friday, March 10 to snap pictures of each class. Students should come prepared to give their best smile… followed, of course, by their silliest face!
Community Reminders
We owe a big thank you to the Kittredge community for your efforts in testing after our return from Presidents’ Week Break!
As a community, we request that you continue to be diligent about sending in tests, reporting exposures, and assessing symptoms in your children. We know this is a tricky new world we’re living in, and we are so appreciative of the efforts you make in supporting the safety of everyone at Kittredge.
Next Week’s News
First Varsity Futsal Game
Next Tuesday, March 14 is the first Varsity Futsal game of the season! Our co-ed team will play CDS at the Columbia Boys and Girls Club. The game starts at 4:15.
The Talent Show is Almost Here!
The Kittredge Talent Show is next Thursday, March 16 at 6:30pm at the San Francisco County Fair Building. Extendo will close at 5, and students should arrive no later than 6:15 to be seated with their class. If your child cannot attend for any reason, please let us know in advance.
An email from the office was sent to you in February regarding your child’s assigned costumes for their class act in the Talent Show. If you have not received notice about costumes, please reach out! We’re so excited to see what the kids accomplish onstage this year.
Parents should have received an email last week confirming your child’s individual act. If you did not receive an email and your child would like to perform a song, dance, juggling, or comedy routine please contact the office ASAP.
Please make sure that Gianfranco and the office are aware of any music, gear, or setup needs that your child may require for their performance. We can’t wait to see, hear, and laugh to all of the hidden talents in our midst!
Kittredge Decisions Emailed Soon!
Next Thursday, March 16, Kittredge decisions will be emailed to applicant families. If you or someone you know is waiting on a decision, the wait is almost over. We have been very fortunate to receive so many recommendations from our current families. Thank you for your word of mouth advertising. It’s the best compliment we could receive!
No School on Friday, March 17
Friday, March 17 is a Teacher Work Day, and school will be closed. If you would like to request Extended Care on this day, please email the office before next Tuesday, March 14. Please note that we need a minimum of 5 students to offer Extendo.
