Kittredge Konnection – May 4, 2021

THANK YOU KPA!

Teacher appreciation is often felt here at Kittredge, but Teacher Appreciation Week has been even more special. Thanks to the KPA, our week began with flowers for the front office, and a mountain of sandwiches, salads and desserts delivered to us by Anna Malyala (Ishwar’s mom). The food, along with roses from Alexandra Feldman (William’s mom) today, have added to the support we feel. I can personally attest to how happy and thankful every teacher has been. The extra time each morning of not planning lunch, is a gift in itself.

Added to that, each teacher received their own box of “everyone’s favorite nori mix”, hand made and hand delivered by Gloria Lee (Erin, Lauren and Gavin’s mom). It’s been a great week!

Thank you for the love and support… it is felt by us all.

TODAY’S NEWS

High School Information Night for 7th Grade Parents is Tonight at 7pm

All 7th grade parents are invited and strongly encouraged to attend this informational meeting about the high school application process. Now is a great time to begin talking as a family about goals and plans for high school. Don’t let the admissions process become overwhelming. Join the meeting and get some basic information to help you start planning for this next step in your child’s education. A zoom link has been emailed to parents.

Students will get a lot of support for this process next year, so this meeting is for parents only.

Talent Show Video Deadline is Extended to Tomorrow (Wednesday)

All students are encouraged to send in a one minute video of their talent for this year’s online Talent Show.

It will be different than anything we’ve done before, but with the editing help of Catherine Kelley (Pilar’s mom), and entertainment from our talented Kittredge community, we’re planning a fun viewing party later in May.

Videos can be sent to our drop box any time before 9pm tomorrow. The link is: https://www.dropbox.com/request/AE0VrUocSgF0PfN1SnBi

THIS WEEK’S NEWS

In-Person Wednesdays Have Been Added to Seventh and Eighth Grades

Beginning next week, our 7th and 8th graders will come for in-person classes from Wednesday to Friday. We were able to add this extra day, thanks to some of the changes made in the Orange and Yellow Tiers.

San Francisco is doing great and we are being rewarded with the chance to relax some restrictions. However, we are still in a pandemic and many restrictions remain in place. Thank you all for your help in keeping us all safe and healthy.

MORE MAY NEWS

May 27 is our Online Talent Show

We are planning a “watch party” for our Talent Show this year. Our hope is that lots of students, parents and teachers will be available as a community to be entertained together online rather than in person this year.

We will be updating you with the link and time as we get closer.

Staff Development Day is May 28; No School

Please note that we have a teacher development day scheduled next month. This will be a workday for teachers but there will be no classes.

NEXT YEAR’S NEWS

Our First Day of School will be Monday, August 30

Attached is the school calendar for next year. As things in San Francisco continue to open up we hope to be able to offer some of our traditional activities. We will keep you updated with any changes or additions that we can schedule.

We’d also like to make sure that everyone knows we will not be offering remote classes next year. We will once again expect that students who miss school due to illness or travel, will be absent that day and that teachers will work with them to catch up with assignments they missed.

However, if guidelines and protocols change and we need to shut down, we will be ready.
