Kittredge Konnection – May 9, 2017

Thank You KPA!

The faculty and staff want to take this opportunity to thank the Kittredge Parents’ Association for their positive spirit and tremendous backing throughout the year. The good vibes and fun time at the Dinner and Auction last Saturday night showed just how much support we receive from the entire school community.

The KPA supports many of our special events (first day coffee, Holiday Happening, Talent Show, and graduation). They also purchase much of our technology and sports equipment, as well as fund classroom field trips. All of this makes Kittredge School a better place for teachers to teach and students to learn.

We want to thank each and every parent, friend and relative for attending and making the party so much fun. The KPA leadership and the Auction/Dinner volunteers outdid themselves this year. Please give them all a hand!

This Week’s Highlights

Final KPA Meeting – Tonight!

It’s been a great year and this will be the final wrap up before summer. The success of the Spring Dinner will be celebrated and everyone is invited to attend. Ideas for using KPA funds for the final month and for next year will be welcome.

7th Grade Parents High School Information Night – Thursday, May 11 @ 6pm

All 7th grade parents are invited and strongly encouraged to attend this informational meeting about the high school application process. Now is a great time to begin talking as a family about goals and plans for high school. Don’t let the admissions process become overwhelming. Come and get some basic information to help you start planning for this next step in your child’s education.

This meeting is for parents only; students will get a lot of support for this process in class.

E.R.B. Testing Is This Week for 3rd to 8th Graders

Please make sure your child is well rested, has a healthy breakfast and is at school on time for these standardized tests.

Next Week’s Highlights

2nd and 3rd Grade Aquarium Field Trip – Monday, May 15

Ms. Baker’s class is heading to the waterfront to spend some time at the Aquarium. They will spend the afternoon learning about preserving our natural resources. Please remember to leave a booster seat if your child needs one.

Take Me Out to the Ball Game – Wednesday, May 17

Next Wednesday our 7th and 8th graders will head over to AT&T Park to eat, and oh yeah, cheer on the Giants! They will leave the Park when the game ends or at 3:45 and will return to Kittredge by 5pm.

Sixth Grade Sleepover – May 17!

One of the highlights for our 6th graders is the night that Kevin and Ms. Gules are silly enough to sleep at the school with them. Next Wednesday is that night. Here’s to another adventure at Kittredge!

Screen Free Week Ice Cream Celebration Thursday, May 18

We hope to celebrate next Thursday with lots of students and lots of ice cream. A parent confirmation of your child’s completion of 7 screen free days will be sent home on Friday.

Crazy Hair Day – May 18

Next Thursday we will celebrate another Kittredge School Spirit Day! Please help your children join in the fun and wear their hair as crazy as they want.

No School next Friday, May 19th; Teacher Development Day

Next Friday is a scheduled workday for teachers so there will be no classes in session. Extended Day will be open during the hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm and available for per diem drop in students ($40/day). There will be no charge for those with an Extended Day contract.

Our Final Habit for this Year is: Remaining Open to Continuous Learning

“The more I see the less I know.” ~ Michael Franti

Michael Franti explains that this line in his song is about his experiences traveling around the world. It is a reference to how just when you think you understand something, it opens doorways of curiosity that make you realize there’s something new hiding around the corner… that we are continuously learning.
