Kittredge Konnection – November 15, 2022

This Week’s News

We Did it, Coyotes!

After a jam-packed week of volleyball and cross country, the season is over. We are beyond proud of our runners who showed up and did us proud at their final meet, as well as our volleyball players, who completed an undefeated season as SFAL champions!

But the sports don’t end there! Basketball season is right around the corner – be on the lookout for a letter from Coach Gules this week.

Sibling Applications Due

Sibling applications to Kittredge are due today, Tuesday, November 15. Parents should ensure that they have filled out their applications by this date.

Have questions about the sibling application process? Don’t hesitate to reach out to the office. We’re here to help!

Picture Make-Ups

By now, parents should have received an email from MugsyClicks notifying you that your child’s photos are ready, including instructions for viewing and ordering. If after viewing the photos you decide you would like to have them retaken, you can opt in for re-takes.

This Friday, November 18, MugsyClicks is back to snap shots of any students we may have missed on the initial picture day, as well as any desired re-takes.

If you know your child was absent and did not have their picture taken, please be sure that they are in attendance on Friday. If you would like your child to re-take their pictures, you must pay $10 online ahead of time to cover the re-take fee. Students without payment will not have their pictures re-taken.

Seasonal Reminders

As we settle into winter, we can expect the cold weather to stay. And with the cold and the rain comes sniffles, sneezes, colds and coughs.

Around this time of year, it is more important than ever to send your child with a mask (or two, or three!) in their backpack just in case. Please remember, students who experience symptoms of Covid-19 should stay home if they are unwell. Upon returning, parents should submit a negative covid test to the office, and students should wear a mask around others until their symptoms subside.

Because absences are inevitable, we’d like to remind parents that students who are absent for any reason are not permitted to attend after-school events on the day of their absence, such as sports games or the Holiday Happening. We appreciate your understanding regarding this rule.

Additionally, students should be coming to school with weather-appropriate clothing. PE happens outdoors in a variety of weather, and we want every Kittredge kid to be warm, dry, and comfortable.

Green Energy for a Green Planet

Hello Kittredge School students and parents! Our names are Jacob and Ari Bushler, and we are graduates of Kittredge School, now attending St. Ignatius Preparatory High School.

We are excited to offer a FREE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM for grades 6-8 called “Green Energy for a Green Planet.”

We are deeply concerned about the health of our Planet Earth and climate change, much of which is driven by our energy choices. Our goal is to educate middle-schoolers about the climate impact of our society’s carbon-heavy energy choices, help them understand green energy alternatives and energy (and water) conservation techniques, and encourage them to become green energy advocates and builders. Roughly 25% of the course will be lectures, and the other 75% will be discussion, building and doing experiments (for example, building a basic wind turbine, or a simple battery).

Please check your inbox for a course description and link to sign up. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Community Announcements

Holiday Happening – Thursday, December 15 from 6:30pm – 8:00pm

All families are invited to attend Kittredge School’s annual Holiday Happening! Please save the date and mark your calendars now to make sure you don’t miss this wonderful event. For those new to Kittredge, Holiday Happening is a beloved Kittredge tradition to celebrate the holidays together before everyone heads off for Winter Break. This year it will be held both indoors at school as well as outdoors in the courtyard. Please look out for a formal invite to be sent through Paperless Post later this month. While RSVPs are not required, it would help immensely with our planning.

  1. There will be fun crafts, games, and activities for all.

  2. Take photos and create special memories in a photo booth.

  3. Come enjoy delicious treats and drinks.

  4. We’ll close with our traditional Kittredge holiday sing-along at 8pm.

  5. As always, a festive time will be had by all!

Volunteers needed! This is a volunteer-run event and we can’t have it without your help. We could use help with supervising the crafts and games, setting up, or cleaning up at the end of the evening. No tasks during the event itself take more than 30 minutes of your time, so you can help out and still enjoy the party! If interested, or if you have any questions, contact Riva Gokhale at rivar924@gmail.com. Thank you for contributing to this fun filled evening!
