Kittredge Volleyball Team Made the Playoffs (again)

The Kittredge Volleyball Team had a very exciting season and finished undefeated in their division. The quarter-final game is tomorrow at 3:30pm vs. Live Oak at UCSF Mission Bay. The volleyball team will be dismissed at 2:30 so they can be at UCSF by 3:10.

If we win, the semi-final game is Thursday and if we win the Finals will be on Friday Burke’s School. Details will be announced after each game.

We are very proud of the teamwork, sportsmanship and support of each other that our team demonstrated throughout the season. Go Kittredge!

Kittredge Parents Book Club –Thursday, November 10th

All parents are invited to join us for the Parent Book Club (PBC). We are reading and discussing the book “Summer and Bird” by Katherine Catmull.

Our wonderful, talented and insightful 7th and 8th grade literature teacher, Debra Dharmer is leading the discussion. This book is an imaginative story about two sisters’ quest to find their parents. It is a quick read with intriguing language and rich details. It takes you to another world where magic exists. This book is often an assigned 7th grade classroom literature book. Ms. Dharmer is looking forward to sharing the book with parents and further cultivating our special Kittredge community.

Light refreshments will be served. Please let us know whether or not you are coming by responding to this Survey Monkey survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/summerandbird

Yosemite Institute Information Night for 7th & 8th Grade Families, November 15

Next Tuesday, November 15 at 6:00 all 7th and 8th grade families will meet to learn about the outdoor education program at Yosemite Institute.

This meeting will set the tone and go over details to ensure a positive and successful week of outdoor education. We will talk about the academic requirements, behavioral expectations and the importance of team building. You will hear/see what a typical day at Y. I. will be like, and will be able to ask questions and address any concerns you have as a student, parent or family.

This is a very important meeting for first time participants but helpful for everyone. Please call the school if you cannot attend.

November 16th is Look Alike Day

Our Student Council recently voted on two Spirit Days for this term: Look Alike Day (November 16th) and Pajama Day (January 18th).

Spirit Days are a chance for Kittredge students and teachers to have some fun and show some school spirit. To celebrate Look Alike Day, students are encouraged to plan similar clothes, hair and even accessories with each other.

National Geographic Bee

We would love Kittredge to have a team. All 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders are eligible to compete. The National Geographic Bee is an annual competition organized by the National Geographic Society, designed to inspire and reward students’ curiosity about the world. Each year, thousands of schools across the United States participate and compete for college scholarships and the glory of being the National Geographic Bee Champion.

Parent Teacher Conferences, December 8 and 9

Fifth grade conferences are Nov. 30, Dec. 1 & 2

Please Return the Conference Form by Next Friday

The first trimester of the year will end on November 22 and we are holding Parent-Teacher Conferences on Thursday and Friday, December 8th & 9th. School will be dismissed at noon and conferences will be from 12:30 to 5 on both days. Fifth graders have a different set of dates and a different form that their students have been given.

In order to best accommodate sibling conferences and help with special circumstances, we are continuing to schedule these conferences by hand. Please return the attached form with your 4 choices by Friday so we can schedule one of your preferred times.

Please note that all 5th grade parents are being asked to schedule conferences the week before (November 30, December 1 and 2) with Maria. She has a very special occasion (her wedding!) scheduled on our conference days and will not be available to meet. Maria has sent a different conference form home with her 5th grade students. Fifth grade parents should return Maria’s form by Friday.

If you would rather skip the conference this time and have your child’s report card mailed, please check off that option on the form and return it.

All parents, except for 5th graders, can print your conference form here: december-sign-up

Fifth grade parents can print their conference form here if they need it: december-sign-up-for-5th-grade

See’s Chocolate Fund Raiser… Get your Holiday Shopping Done the Easy Way

A note from Emily Wells, Chair

Back by popular demand the KPA is sponsoring this holiday fundraiser again this year. We chose See’s because of its fine reputation for quality.

Since all of the students will benefit from our fundraiser, we would greatly appreciate everyone’s cooperation. So please, help your child by taking orders from friends, relatives, neighbors and co-workers.

Please remember the sale ends November 18 and all orders must be accompanied by a check made out to the Kittredge Parents Association (KPA). Candy will be available for delivery to your customers, the second week of December.

Thank you for helping to make our fundraiser a BIG success!
