Kittredge Konnection – November 8, 2022

This Week’s News

Spirit Day

Our first student-selected Spirit Day of the year is Sports Day!

Tomorrow, Wednesday, November 9, students and teachers should come dressed as their favorite athletes, or in gear for their favorite game.

The Final Week of a Great Season

The sports don’t stop there!

On Monday, our varsity volleyball team won their first play-off game against Kipp Bayview. This means they advance to the semi-finals, which will happen at Burkes tomorrow, Wednesday, November 9, at 4:45.

If they win this game, they will advance to the finals, which will be at SF Friends’ School on Friday, November 11, at 5:30.

The final Cross Country meet is this Thursday, November 10, at 3:30. The race will be at Hellman Hollow in Golden Gate Park.

Parents, please pick your runners up from Kittredge by 2:40 on Thursday. The course walk-through is at 3:00.

We are so proud of the hard work, dedication, and sportsmanship our runners have shown this season!

Go Coyotes!

Science Club Session Two Starts Tomorrow!

The new chemistry unit of Science Club begins tomorrow! If your child is interested, please let Ms. Rose know tonight via email at missdariarose@gmail.com. Many fun experiments await! You won’t want to miss this one.

Science Club is held on Wednesdays from 3:15-4:30.

Habit of Mind: Responding with Wonderment and Awe

How do you respond with wonderment and awe?

Simple – you recognize just how amazing our world is! Not just when you’re seeing something for the first time, but when you’re looking at the ordinary things you see every day.

What’s the name of that tree growing in your neighbor’s yard, and where does it come from? How far away is that airplane overhead? Ask yourself these questions and then seek out the answers! You’ll be amazed by what you can find.

Monday Music Lessons with Gianfranco

Weekly lessons will teach students how to play the Classical Guitar or Piano. Lessons are one-on-one, and 30 minutes each.

Students who are beginners will explore basic methods and techniques with their instruments such as chords, scales and reading musical notations. Students will learn a song from the Suzuki method Guitar book or from the Piano Adventures series.

Students who are slightly intermediate or advance with music will explore more musical repertoire for either the Guitar or the Piano, as well as enhancing their technique and preparing them all for a future recital to perform!

Each music session is $45 for 30 minutes

Email gibaltazar97@gmail.com to enroll or if you have any questions!

Seasonal Reminders

What a rainy start we’ve had to this week! As we settle into winter, we can expect this kind of weather to stay. And with the cold and the rain comes sniffles, sneezes, colds and coughs.

Around this time of year, it is more important than ever to send your child with a mask (or two, or three!) in their backpack just in case. Please remember, students who experience symptoms of Covid-19 should stay home if they are unwell. Upon returning, parents should submit a negative covid test to the office, and students should wear a mask around others until their symptoms subside.

Additionally, students should be coming to school with weather-appropriate clothing. PE happens outdoors in a variety of weather, and we want every Kittredge kid to be warm, dry, and comfortable.

Picture Make-Ups

By now, parents should have received an email from MugsyClicks notifying you that your child’s photos are ready, including instructions for viewing and ordering. If after viewing the photos you decide you would like to have them retaken, you can opt in for re-takes.

Next Friday, November 18, MugsyClicks is back to snap shots of any students we may have missed on the initial picture day, as well as any desired re-takes.

If you know your child was absent and did not have their picture taken, please be sure that they are in attendance on Friday. If you would like your child to re-take their pictures, you must pay the $10 fee in advance online to cover the re-take fee. Students without payment will not have their pictures re-taken.

Sibling Applications Due

Sibling applications to Kittredge are due Tuesday, November 15. Parents should ensure that they have filled out their applications by this date.

Have questions about the sibling application process? Don’t hesitate to reach out to the office. We’re here to help!
