LAST WEEK!

Halloween Costume Drive for Hamilton Family House

A message from Caroline Kreutzen, 8th grade student

As we near Halloween, please think of the many kids who can’t afford a costume and consider donating new or gently used costumes to the Hamilton Family House. Specifically they are looking for any kind of accessories and older kid costumes, however all donations are welcome. The Hamilton House’s mission is to end family homelessness and they provide services such as temporary housing and follow up. If you would like to donate, there will be a box in the main lobby of Kittredge near Trudy’s desk though October 19.

National Geographic Bee – Sign up Underway!

The National Geographic Bee is an annual competition organized by the National Geographic Society, designed to inspire and reward students’ curiosity about the world. Each year, thousands of schools across the United States participate and compete for college scholarships and the glory of being the National Geographic Bee Champion.

We would like Kittredge to be among those schools. All 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders are eligible to compete.

Habits of Mind

October’s Habit is: Striving for Accuracy and Precision

What is Striving For Accuracy and Precision? It is the desire for craftsmanship and mastery to produce exceptional results.

How does someone achieve accuracy and precision?

Always remind yourself to: Take pride in your work; achieve the highest possible standards; and focus on accomplishing your task.

When you are finished, ask yourself: Did I follow the directions I was given? Did I do it to the best of my ability? Does my finished product meet the exemplary criteria?

What NOT to do: Turn in sloppy, incomplete, or uncorrected work; give minimal effort; or forget to look over your work for accuracy.

Now, you are ready to conquer anything by giving it your BEST shot!

Halloween at Kittredge

All students should come to school in costume on Monday, October 31. Costumes cannot include weapons or toy weapons of any kind. Masks and other accessories should be kept in a bag until the parade (weather permitting) at 2:00. Parents are invited to attend.

Volleyball Team Update

We’re always proud of our students who join teams and work to improve their skill. We look forward to seeing the team in the playoff games!

There is 1 more game next Friday, October 28. All students and parents are welcome to come to a game and cheer for the team. Support is always appreciated. Go Kittredge!
