KITTREDGE KONNECTION – OCTOBER 19, 2021

HABIT OF MIND and CHARACTER COUNTS NEWS

Creating, Imagining, and Innovating

Our Student Council Created, Imagined, and Innovated a skit that depicted the innovations of the telephone over the years. Thank you to Luke, Abby, Cara, George, and Torben for their creative take on Creating, Imagining and Innovating, the Habit of Mind for October.

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, Nothing is going to get better. It’s not.”

—Dr. Seuss

Our assembly also covered the Character Counts Pillar for the trimester: Caring. Kids were able to identify what caring looks like and are now catching each other being caring too. If you see a Kittredge kid wearing a red heart, you may want to ask them, who was caught being caring?

THIS WEEK’S NEWS

It’s Raining, It’s Pouring (hopefully)

If we are lucky, we will have some rain this week and next. Please know that barring a serious storm, your children will continue to be brought outside for recess breaks and PE classes.

We have always believed in the many benefits of physical activity breaks… studies show that students are happier, get better grades, and have improved cognitive performance, to name a few. During these Covid times we also have the added benefit of safety from the virus when we are outside.

Please consider having your child pack or wear rain boots or waterproof shoes, as well as a rain coat, to wear outside during those times.

Volleyball Game Tomorrow (Wednesday)

Tomorrow our volleyball team will play the Burke’s team at their gym at 3:45pm. We have 3 wins and 1 loss, with two games left before playoffs. We’ve enjoyed watching our team work together and shine this season!

We’ve Got Spirit… Yes We Do

Today is “dress as a teacher” day and Mr. Young’s birthday! Can you guess which teacher the staff dressed up as today?

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

We hope you enjoyed celebrating this first spirit day. We are looking forward to more fun to come with our next Spirit Day. November 17th will be dress as a character day. This could be a book, game, cartoon, t.v. or movie character. We’ve got a lot of characters around here. We can’t wait to see what you come up with!
