Today Starts a New Session of “Science with Ms. Rose”
The first 5-week session ended last week and a new one begins today. Please let Ms. Rose know if your child will be joining her for the next session of science projects. They will delve into an exploration inspired by the autumn season. Because of Halloween and Thanksgiving, there will be a couple weeks that are skipped. Lemonade Stand Tomorrow (Wednesday) to Help with Hurricane Relief
The student council voted to have a fundraiser for the Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund. Our 8th graders will be hosting a lemonade stand for all students at lunch recess. All are welcome to have a glass of lemonade and donations will be accepted from every one who would like to help with hurricane relief.

Sixth Grade Hike Tomorrow
Our sixth grade class will walk to Land’s End tomorrow and have the opportunity to appreciate the natural beauty that we are so fortunate to benefit from. They will spend some time writing and reflecting as well as bonding and enjoying each other.
Lemonade will be waiting for them when they return.

NEXT WEEK’S NEWS
Halloween at Kittredge
All students should come to school in costume on Wednesday, October 31. Costumes cannot include weapons or toy weapons of any kind. Masks and other accessories should be kept in a bag until the parade (weather permitting) at 2:00. Parents are invited and encouraged to attend.

Trick or Treat for UNICEF!
Student council is once again sponsoring this successful program. UNICEF boxes will be distributed to all students who want to participate. The campaign will end on Wednesday, November 7 and the boxes must be in by that day to count toward your class total.

Middle School Dance at Synergy – November 2
All middle school students are invited to attend a dance at Synergy School. The permission slip can be printed here: Synergy dance

Sandcastle Event on November 3… Save the Date

One of the things I promised to do as school president was a school wide sandcastle event and there is a great event happening on November 3 on Ocean Beach. The Leap Sandcastle Classic, a day when different schools compete to build the best sandcastle, and people in the community can come in for free to see the building, hang out on the beach, maybe building their own sandcastle or help with the community sandcastles building (drop-in sand sculpture building areas open and free to every one).

Spanish Field Trip for Sixth Graders – Tuesday, November 6
On Tuesday, November 6, our sixth grade students will be visiting “El Barrio de la Mission”. They will see murals, eat burritos and tour the Dia de los Muertos exhibit at the Mission Cultural Center. Students will be leaving around 10:00 am and will be back to school by 3pm.
