Please remember that Lifetouch Photography will be back at Kittredge this Thursday, October 29 to take class pictures and retakes. If you would like your child to have a retake, please make sure to return the original photographs that day.

Halloween at Kittredge

All students should come to school in costume this Friday, October 30. Costumes cannot include weapons or toy weapons of any kind. Masks and other accessories should be kept in a bag until the parade (weather permitting) at 2:00. Parents are invited to attend.

Trick or Treat for UNICEF – Boxes Were Distributed!

Student council is once again sponsoring this successful program. UNICEF boxes have been distributed to all students who want to participate. The campaign will end on Thursday, November 5 and the boxes must be in by that day to count toward your class total.

Last Volleyball Game of the Regular Season is Next Week

Next Thursday our volleyball team will play their last scheduled game of the season. They have a great record so far. If they make it to the play-offs there will be games scheduled the week of November 9.

Everyone is invited to come and cheer for the team next week. The game is November 5th at 5pm at Burke School, 7070 California Street. Go Kittredge!

Next Wednesday, November 4th is Wacky Day

Our Student Council recently voted on two Spirit Days for this term: Wacky Day and Pajama Day.

Wacky Day is next Wednesday. It is a chance for Kittredge students and teachers use our October Habit of Mind (creating, imagining, and innovating) to show how wacky we can be.

Pajama Day is scheduled for December 2. More details will follow.

Our First Trimester Ends November 24

Please remember that the first trimester will end in about 4 weeks. Parents can always check their child’s progress on TeacherEase and contact teachers with any questions. If you need another “invitation” with log-in information, please ask Trudy.

School Directory is Now Available in TeacherEase

Everyone can find a copy of the Kittredge School Roster in the Digital Locker of his or her TeacherEase account. The Digital Locker is under heading “communicate” on the top of your home page. You can access this information from all your mobile devices or download and print it from your computer. Please let Trudy know if any changes need to be made.

Kittredge Parents Book Club – Next Thursday, November 5th

All parents are invited to join us for the first Parent Book Club (PBC) meeting next week. We are reading and discussing the book Raising Kids Who Read by Daniel Willingham.

Our wonderful, talented and insightful 7th and 8th grade literature teacher, Debra Dharmer is leading the book club and looking forward to sharing the book with you and further cultivating our special Kittredge community. Come join the discussion on November 5th from 6 to 7:30.

Light refreshments will be served.

Next trimester the book will be Freeing Your Child From Anxiety by Tamar Chansky, and during the third trimester we will end with Last Child in the Woods–Saving Our Children From Nature Deficit Disorder by Richard Louv.

KPA Korner

Next KPA Meeting: November 10

Please join us for the November meeting from 6 to 7pm. As always, childcare and a pizza snack will be available for Kittredge students.

Save the Date – May 7 is the KPA Spring Auction

The annual Spring Dinner/Auction will be at the Log Cabin in the Presidio. As always there will be great food and great company, however we need all of you to make this a huge success, so please mark your calendars now!

Save the Dates – November 2 to November 18 is the See’s Chocolate Fundraiser

Back by popular demand the KPA is sponsoring this holiday fundraiser again this year! You can get your holiday shopping done easily and help the KPA at the same time. Chocolates will be delivered the second week of December. Order forms will go home this week.
