Minimum Day (Noon Dismissal)… This Thursday, September 14
This Thursday, September 14, students will be dismissed at Noon so that teachers can prepare for Back to School Night. There will be no Study Hall that day. Extended Day is available for those who have a contract and for drop-ins on minimum days. If you haven’t yet, please complete the Survey Monkey on-line form for dismissal information and Extended Day Registration. It takes less than one minute!
Back to School Night for Parents, This Thursday September 14
All parents are invited into their child’s classroom to learn about the curriculum and goals for the upcoming year. The doors will open at 6:10 so that teachers can start their presentations promptly at 6:30. A general overview of the year as well as classroom policies and expectations will be discussed. There will be no individual conferences at this time.
This evening is for adults only and we will not be able to provide childcare. Please remember that parking can be difficult, so plan appropriately. Walking, biking and carpooling are recommended. See you there!
Student Council Elections This Friday
We have some worthy candidates running for a few spots for the Kittredge Student Council. We congratulate all the students who are running. Since there is only one representative per office, the candidate who gets the most votes will be the representative. However, it must be said that anyone who is running now to represent the school is already a winner!
The candidates are:
4/5th grades class rep: Cerys, Shani, Saphina, Rachel, and Jacob
6th grade class rep: Sasha, Carson, Maximilian, and Ashkon
7th grade class rep: Tilden, Haile and Boris
Secretary: Emma and Cate
President: Mia and Isabel
Student council elections will be held this Friday, September 15. Candidates for class representatives will be making their speeches in their classrooms at a time designated by their teacher. The candidates for president and secretary will address the whole school Thursday at 10:45. Good luck to all the candidates!

Welcome To The World, Georgia
On Saturday while we were at the picnic, Maria Chambers (last year’s 5th grade teacher), had her baby. Georgia Skye Tuolumne Hutchins was born at 3:35pm on 9/9 (her due date!) and is a healthy and strong little girl.
Mother, father and baby are all doing great… in fact they are “over the moon”! Congratulations and love to Maria, Greg and Georgia from all of us!
Speaking of Saturday’s Picnic…
Here’s a link to some photos from Saturday’s picnic. Enjoy!

Habit of Mind for September: Applying Past Knowledge to New Situations
“The more you know about the past, the better prepared you are for the future.” ~ Theodore Roosevelt
Use what you learn! Intelligent people learn from experience. They will transfer knowledge beyond the situation in which it was learned and they will use information they already know to solve problems.
