Habit of Mind for September: Listening with Understanding and Empathy

“Try to see it my way, only time will tell if I am right or I am wrong. While you see it your way, there’s a chance that we might fall apart before too long. We can work it out. We can work it out.”  ~John Lennon and Paul McCartney

Listening isn’t listening unless you understand what you hear. And listening isn’t hearing unless you understand what the other person is saying.

Running Gags are Off and Running

We enjoyed our first meet Friday. The Gags did a great job of running and the parents did a great job of rooting our runners on and helping with the hosting! Special thanks to Kristen Kiss and Debbie Veatch for their amazing help at the scorers’ table and Gules for running the show! We received the results from the race. Three Kittredge runners were in the top ten finishers in their races. Alex was 3rd and Tilden 9th in the boys 5th/6th grade and Madison was fourth in the Girls 7th/8th grade. To these three to and to all of our runners… Great job!

Help Kittredge Be a Good Neighbor!

Over the years, Kittredge School’s neighbors have been wonderfully supportive about having us in their midst. Every year we ask for your help to keep it this way. We ask that when you drop off and pick up your child, please do not double-park and leave your car unattended, block our neighbors’ driveways or the intersection of 25th and Lake. Thank you, Kittredge and our neighbors will both appreciate it!

Lemonade Stand Success… Thank you Jacob and Ari!

Kittredge School students Jacob and Ari Bushler (3rd and 4th graders) took it upon themselves to sell lemonade in front of their house. They raised $112 and they donated it all to the Kittredge Parents Association!

The boys’ parents, Anna and Anatoly said that, “it was a cold day! Next time they’ll make a killing selling hot chocolate!”

We think they killed it already! Thank you Bushler family!

A Warm Welcome to our Newest Students and their Families

We have two new students…kind of. Pablo Hansen is new only because we didn’t think he was coming back and Pilar Kelley started our third grade yesterday. Please welcome Pilar and re-welcome Pablo (and their families!) when you see them!
