This Week’s News
Thank you, Kittredge!
Thank you to all of the family and faculty members who came to this weekend’s fall picnic. It was a gorgeous morning of chatting, snacking, fort-building, and more! We loved seeing everyone’s smiling faces, and watching our community grow.
Habits of Mind
At last Wednesday’s assembly, Ms. Pon-Barry, Ms. Gules, and Kevin introduced this month’s Habit of Mind, Listening with Understanding and Empathy, with the game Last Line.
Each player would make a declaration, and the following player would repeat the last line of this declaration, while conveying the same tone as the previous player. After an example round, our eighth graders joined in on the action, and played Last Line from one end of the class to the other. This seemingly simple task put our listening skills to the test. Well done 8th grade!
Student Council Elections
Congratulations to everyone who ran for Kittredge student council last week. Just putting yourself out there makes you a winner, and we are proud of every one of you.
Our new officers are:
School President – Lachlan McConnell
School Secretary – Zachary Nelson
Seventh Grade Representative – George Bessolo
Sixth Grade Representative – Wynn Gebhart
Fifth Grade Representative – Hendrick McConnell
Go Gags!
The Running Gags’ first cross country meet is officially over. A big thank you to all of the parent volunteers who made it possible!
The next meet will be next Wednesday, September 28, at Crissy Field. Races are at 4:30 and 5:00 pm.
Spirit Days
Fridays are School Spirit Days here at Kittredge. That means putting on your favorite Kittredge t-shirt and Kittredge hoodie (we all know how important layering is!) or rocking our school colors, black and white.
Use of Technology
As we start off the new year, we would like to reiterate our technology policy:
Cell phones must be turned off and kept in a student’s backpack when they enter school. Parents and students should not be using cell phones to communicate during school hours. This also applies to iPads, Apple Watches, and other devices.
These devices prove highly distracting to the student and to the class in general and should not be used in the school or on the playground. If you need to convey a message to your child during school hours, please call the office.
Looking Ahead
Volleyball
Volleyball season has begun! The team’s first game is against Burkes next Friday, and will be held at St. Agnes. The game starts at 3:45.
Do you know a family that should know about Kittredge?
We have three open houses on the horizon and have been lucky enough to have found many families because of your kind words. If you know a family that might like to know more about Kittredge, please invite them to join us for an open house.
Fall Holiday
It’s that time of year already! Fall Holiday is on Monday, October 10. Classes will resume on Tuesday, October 11.
As Always….
