Academic Chess Begins this Friday from 3:10 to 4:10
If your child would like to attend this popular after school activity, please make sure that you complete the registration form and payment to Academic Chess. You can do this on-line at www.academicchess.com or you can get a form in the office. All students must be picked up at 4:10 unless they are part of our Extended Day Program.

It’s Volleyball Season!
Our volleyball team played… and won… their first game yesterday. Each team member had some playing time and they all looked great! There are 5 more games scheduled this season and the team is getting better every day. Everyone is welcome to attend a game and cheer the team on. Go Kittredge!

New Kittredge Fall Raffle — Tickets Going Home This Week!

The Kittredge Raffle is new and improved this year. Envelopes with the tickets are going home this week so please check your child’s backpack.
The KPA is moving the raffle to the fall and including more fabulous prizes! Please help us make it the most successful yet by selling and buying tickets for the following:
1st Prize: iPad Air 2
2nd Prize: 2 Tickets to Warriors Game (December 5, 2016: Indiana Pacers at Golden State Warriors, Section 228, Row 7, Seats 3-4)
3rd Prize: $250 Amazon Gift Certificate
4th and 5th Prizes: $50 Amazon Gift Certificates
Tickets are $5 each or a pack of 5 for $20.
The class that sells the most tickets will win a delicious ice cream party! But everyone is still a winner—all classes will receive yummy treats that day for participating.
Please return the sold ticket stubs with the contact info, payments, and any unsold tickets in your envelope to Trudy by Friday, October 28. The drawing will be on November 2 at Kittredge. Winners will be notified by phone or email.
We hope everyone will participate in whatever capacity you can. This raffle does make a big difference in what the KPA can support, including requests for supplies and materials from teachers; field trips; the upcoming Holiday Happening; rental of JCC for the amazing talent show and 8th grade graduation; field day; and much more!

No School Monday, October 10
As written in our school calendar, Kittredge will be closed on Monday, October 10 in celebration of the Fall Holiday. There will be no classes or Extended Day.

October High School Visit Days for 8th Graders
October 13 and 19 are “no school” days for our 8th grade students. These days are designed to allow 8th graders to visit high schools and work on their application essays without missing class time.

Sibling Applications are Due November 18th
If you would like to have a sibling be considered for our 2017 early decision, our TADS on-line application is available for you now. Please complete the application and the teacher forms by November 18th. Early decisions will be sent December 16.

High School Admissions Representatives
Every year our 7th and 8th graders are fortunate to have the wonderful experience of meeting and listening to admissions representatives from most of the private high schools in the city. The representatives come to Kittredge and spend about an hour with our students explaining their school and answering questions. This is a very personal and special opportunity that our students receive as they are completing their high school admissions process.
So far they have met with reps from The Branson School, University High School, International High School, The Bay School, Stevenson Boarding School, Lick Wilmerding High School, and The Marin School. In October they will hear from Riordan and Mercy High Schools, Sacred Heart Cathedral, The Jewish Community High School, Woodside High School, Convent and Stuart Hall, Urban High School, and Nueva High School.

Kittredge Parents Book Club – November 10th
The second year of the Parents Book Club (PBC) is underway. This first trimester, we are reading the book “Summer and Bird” by Katherine Catmull. This is an enchanting book about the quest of two sisters searching for their parents.
Our wonderful, talented and insightful 7th and 8th grade literature teacher, Debra Dharmer is leading the book club and looking forward to sharing the book with you and further cultivating our special Kittredge community. Come join the discussion on November 10th from 6 to 7:30.

Root Division Art Auction
A Visual Arts Non Profit that Connects Creativity and Community
Sarah HaBa (the same talented parent who has transformed the outside of our school with gardens) is part of the Root Division art auction. It is a major art auction in San Francisco.
On Saturday, Oct. 8th from 7-10pm is the preview reception where you can come and see the art (over 150 artists) for free! The gallery is in SOMA, and it is beautiful. And the art is beautiful!! More info is at: rootdivision.org or at my website: sarahhaba.com
